4AffordableWaystoTransformYourSmileforaOnce-In-A-LifetimeMoment

People improve their smiles for a lot of reasons: to better their career prospects, to put some juice in their social lives or just to do something special for themselves. But you may have an even stronger reason: a once-in-a-lifetime event—maybe your wedding day—is coming up soon.

You have several options for transforming your smile for the big day—and some are even quite economical. Here are 4 affordable ways to make your smile beautiful for that forever moment.

Cleanings. While dental cleanings should already be part of your regular dental care, scheduling one right before a big event can do wonders for your smile. Not only can your hygienist remove any lingering dull and dingy plaque and tartar, but they can polish your teeth for a brighter shine. Remember, though: dental cleanings support your own hygiene efforts, they don't replace them. Your own daily practice of brushing and flossing will also help you maintain a beautiful smile.

Teeth Whitening. You can also get an extra boost of brightness with a tooth whitening procedure. Using a professional bleaching solution and other techniques, your dentist can lighten your smile to your tastes, from a more natural hue to dazzling white. The whitening effect, though, is temporary, so plan to see your dentist no more than a few weeks before your big day.

Bonding. Perhaps a tiny chip is all that stands between you and a knockout smile. Your dentist may be able to repair that and other minor defects by bonding tooth-colored materials to the chip site. These composite resin materials have the shine of enamel and can be color-blended to match your tooth's natural shade. Composite resins are also fairly rugged, although you should avoid biting down on hard foods or objects.

Veneers. Although more expensive than the previous options mentioned, veneers are still affordable compared to crowns or bridgework. Usually made of thin layers of dental porcelain, dentists bond veneers to the front of teeth to mask mild to moderate problems like heavy staining, disfiguration and minor gaps. But because veneers are custom-fabricated by a dental lab, you'll need to plan them with your dentist at least six months before your event. The resulting change to your smile, though, may well be worth the wait.

Cosmetic DentistryHow cosmetic dental procedures from your dentist in Trenton, Michigan can enhance your smile

Are you wondering if cosmetic dentistry can help your smile? The truth is, whatever bothers you about your smile, chances are there is a procedure to correct the problem. From whitening, to tooth-colored fillings, to veneers, cosmetic dentistry offers something for everyone. Dr. Nicholas Booker at Booker Family Dentistry in Trenton, MI, offers a full range of cosmetic, restorative, and preventive dental services to enhance your smile.

Cosmetic dentistry is an option for just about everyone, but it helps to have a healthy mouth first. Before you consider cosmetic dentistry, you should repair and restore any painful dental problems, like decay, first. Then, move on to making your smile beautiful with your Trenton, MI, dentist.

These are just a few of the many cosmetic dentistry options available to give you a great-looking smile:

Professional teeth whitening can whiten and brighten, even the dullest of smiles. With professional teeth whitening, you can whiten your smile up to 8 shades. Your wonderful results can last up to 5 years! Unlike over-the-counter whitening products, which may contain harmful chemicals, professional teeth whitening products are tested and approved by the American Dental Association. At Booker Family Dentistry, you can choose from a quick in-office treatment that takes about an hour or a convenient take-home whitening kit.

Tooth-colored fillings can provide beauty as well as protection. They are a great choice to replace old, ugly, worn-out metal fillings. Tooth-colored fillings use composite, a liquid resin material that can be matched to the color of your teeth and sculpted to blend with the natural contours of your teeth. The composite is hardened with a dental light, leaving you with a filling that is strong and virtually invisible. Tooth-colored fillings enhance your smile, instead of detracting from it.

Porcelain veneers can give you a smile that says perfection. Porcelain veneers are thin laminates of light-reflective, stain-resistant porcelain. They are cemented on to the front surfaces of your teeth, hiding cracks, fracture lines, broken or chipped tooth structure, and other aesthetic problems. Porcelain veneers are minimally invasive because Dr. Booker removes little to no tooth structure, just enough to accommodate the thickness of the veneers.

These are just a few of the many cosmetic dental services available to enhance your smile. It’s time for you to discover why cosmetic dentistry is a great option for your teeth. Call (734) 675-5700 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Booker at Booker Family Dentistry in Trenton, MI, today!

BaseballsFranciscoLindorShinesasMrSmile

At the first-ever Players Weekend in August 2017, Major League Baseball players wore jerseys with their nicknames on the back. One player — Cleveland Indians shortstop, Francisco Lindor — picked the perfect moniker to express his cheerful, fun-loving nature: “Mr. Smile.” And Lindor gave fans plenty to smile about when he belted a 2-run homer into the stands while wearing his new jersey!

Lindor has explained that he believes smiling is an important part of connecting with fans and teammates alike: “I’ve never been a fan of the guy that makes a great play and then acts like he’s done it 10,000 times — smile, man! We’ve got to enjoy the game.”

We think Lindor is right: Smiling is a great way to generate good will. And it feels great too… as long as you have a smile that’s healthy, and that looks as good as you want it to. But what if you don’t? Here are some things we can do at the dental office to help you enjoy smiling again:

Routine Professional Cleanings & Exams. This is a great place to start on the road toward a healthy, beautiful smile. Even if you are conscientious about brushing and flossing at home, you won’t be able to remove all of the disease-causing dental plaque that can hide beneath the gum line, especially if it has hardened into tartar, but we can do it easily in the office. Then, after a thorough dental exam, we can identify any problems that may be affecting your ability to smile freely, such as tooth decay, gum disease, or cosmetic dental issues.

Cosmetic Dental Treatments. If your oral health is good but your smile is not as bright as you’d like it to be, we can discuss a number of cosmetic dental treatments that can help. These range from conservative procedures such as professional teeth whitening and bonding to more dramatic procedures like porcelain veneers or crowns.

Tooth Replacement. Many people hide their smiles because they are embarrassed by a gap from a missing tooth. That’s a shame, because there are several excellent tooth-replacement options in a variety of price ranges. These include partial and full dentures, bridgework, and dental implants. So don’t let a missing tooth stop you from being Mr. (or Ms.) Smile!

JasonDerulosIdealMatch

When the multi-platinum recording artist, songwriter and TV personality Jason Derulo was recently asked about his ideal woman, his answer covered a remarkably broad spectrum. "There’s no specific thing," he said, "so I think it’s unfair to say what my ‘type’ is." But it turns out that there is one thing the So You Think You Can Dance judge considers essential: A beautiful smile.

"I’m not into messy teeth," Derulo said. "If the grill has spaces and different colors, it’s not my vibe."

As it turns out, he may be on to something: A number of surveys have indicated that a bright, healthy smile is often the first thing people notice when meeting someone new. Yet many are reluctant to open up that big grin because they aren’t satisfied with the way their teeth look. If you’re one of them, consider this: Modern cosmetic dentistry offers a variety of ways to improve your smile — and it may be easier and more affordable than you think.

For example, if your smile isn’t as bright as you would like it to be, teeth whitening is an effective and economical way to lighten it up. If you opt for in-office treatments, you can expect a lightening effect of up to 10 shades in a single one-hour treatment! Or, you can achieve the same effect in a week or two with a take-home kit we can custom-make for you. Either way, you’ll be safe and comfortable being treated under the supervision of a dental professional — and the results can be expected to last for up to two years, or perhaps more.

If your teeth have minor spacing irregularities, small chips or cracks, it may be possible to repair them in a single office visit via cosmetic bonding. In this process, a liquid composite resin is applied to the teeth and cured (hardened) with a special light. This high-tech material, which comes in colors to match your teeth, can be built up in layers and shaped with dental instruments to create a pleasing, natural effect.

If your smile needs more than just a touch-up, dental veneers may be the answer. These wafer-thin coverings, placed right on top of your natural teeth, can be made in a variety of shapes and colors — from a natural pearly luster to a brilliant "Hollywood white." Custom-made veneers typically involve the removal of a few millimeters of tooth enamel, making them a permanent — and irreversible — treatment. However, by making teeth look more even, closing up spaces and providing dazzling whiteness, veneers just might give you the smile you’ve always wanted.

Would you like your smile to look its very best, but you worry that cosmetic dentistry treatments exceed your budget? Well, worry no more. dental bondingWith cosmetic bonding from Dr. Nicholas Booker in Trenton, MI, you can remake small dental defects seamlessly and affordably. Let the professional team at Booker Family Dentistry show you how.

The importance of a smile

The American Association of Orthodontists states that a full one-third of American adults dislike what they see when they look in the mirror. No, they aren't upset about their eye color or the shape of their noses. They're disturbed by the appearance of their smile.

And that's not surprising. Other studies conducted by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry find that your smile gets noticed before the color of your hair, your clothes and even your body shape. In other words, a smile means a lot, and if yours is less than satisfactory, you deserve a change.

Dr. Booker delivers the smile changes people desire most. He offers a long list of cosmetic dentistry services in his Trenton office. Teeth whitening, porcelain veneers and more can enhance your healthy smile and boost your self-esteem, too. Cosmetic bonding is one of his most popular, effective and cost-sparing treatments.

Exactly what is cosmetic bonding?

Also called composite resin bonding, this simple aesthetic treatment uses a blend of glass particles and acrylic to reshape chipped, gapped, cracked and otherwise marred teeth. By visual inspection, Dr. Booker can tell you if this one-visit service can remake your smile.

Here's how it works. If you're a candidate for bonding, Dr. Booker lightly buffs the areas to be repaired. Then, he puts a special bonding liquid on the sites and applies the resin. He shapes the putty-like material to achieve a natural look. Then, he hardens the tooth-colored material with a curing light and polishes the surfaces to a high sheen.

Afterwards, be sure you brush twice a day with a soft brush and also floss daily. Your bonded teeth are stain-resistant, but limit tobacco, coffee and other staining foods. Pay particular attention to cleaning the gum line if your bonding repairs extend to these soft tissues.

Additionally, remember that composite resin is strong and will last for years, but don't abuse it. Avoid extra hard foods, and don't bite non-food items such as pencils.
